Item #173 Shaker Wall Clock (SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED)

Hand Crafted by Wayne Rivers, Director of Manufacturing Accounting; Isaac Newton Youngs, a Shaker brother who lived in the Mount Lebanon, New York community built only 14 of these clocks (circa 1840), but they stand out as a hallmark of Shaker design.*

Value: $200

Final Bid: $110

Donated by: Wayne Rivers, Director of Manufacturing Accounting

Sappi Fine Paper Boston

*It would not be accurate to suggest that this is a Shaker reproduction. To do so would mean that all materials and building techniques closely match the original. As a woodworking hobbyist, I used the Shaker design but built this clock using current day materials, tools and techniques. The clock was designed to hang from a wall mounted peg, a typical site in Shaker homes. This clock may be hung from a peg, but can also be direct wall mounted. Whatever the preference, the mounting must be capable of supporting the clocks weight of approximately 15 pounds. While the original would have had a period mechanical movement, this clock has a simple quartz movement which should provide years of reliable service.
